On the eve of St Petersburg International Economic Forum XXIV the results of the world’s largest research on entrepreneurial activities “Global Entrepreneurship Monitor — 2020/2021” were presented. In Russia, participation in the project has been coordinated by the research group of the Graduate School of Management St Petersburg University (GSOM SPbU), for 15 years. Since 2018 GEM has had the financial support of the Sber company.
The Graduate School of Management of St. Petersburg University and Sberbank have shared the results of their research using the GEM methodology in St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region.
The results of the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM) for 2020 were presented at a meeting of the Commission of the State Council of the Russian Federation in the area of "Small and Medium Business" in Kaliningrad. Olga Verkhovskaya, Head of the Project in Russia, a Representative of the Graduate School of Management of St. Petersburg University (GSOM SPbU), made a report.
The Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM) noted the unprecedented impact of the pandemic on the business sector in 2020. At the same time, one fifth of the Russian survey participants claim that under the pressure of the covid crisis, they were able to find new opportunities for business development.
